Our Service

Located in Alderley Edge and Lymm, Cheshire - Cheshire Sobriety Clinic offers a highly professional, community treatment programme for problematic drug and alcohol use  (including binge drinking), combining a subconscious (RTT®) and talking therapy approach, with both in-person and online options.  Main components include:

  • Free, no-pressure 30-minute consultation with John Wilkinson to explore your situation and what is best for you, to give you the best chance of achieving your recovery goals.

  • Individual therapy sessions with John (10 × 1-hour), combined with 2 × 2-hour Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) sessions delivered by Dr Shyra Raj (https://www.drshyraraj.com) to address the subconscious emotional triggers, which includes x2 bespoke hypnosis audios to listen to over a 21 day period.

  • Holistic, biopsychosocial approach that treats the whole person - mind, body, emotions, and lifestyle - and focuses on resolving the underlying causes rather than just a temporary alleviation of the problematic behaviour.

  • Aftercare and long-term support is available to help maintain recovery (if required) even after our treatment programme ends with bookable ad hoc sessions.

Treatment Philosophy & Team

  • The clinic is run by a small, dedicated team who emphasise their skill set demonstrating professionalism, experience, ethics, safety, confidentiality, and bespoke care, which moves you towards your treatment goals.

  • We specialise in helping clients apply what they learn in real time, supporting continued responsibilities (work, family) rather than being removed from life entirely and placed in a controlled and false environment.

  • RTT® combines hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP, and psychotherapy to address subconscious emotional drivers of addiction and binge drinking.

  • If medically supervised detox is needed, we will advise on suitable external services rather than proceed unsafely.

Locations & Accessibility

  • In-person sessions available in Alderley Edge and Lymm, Cheshire; online Zoom-based treatment can also be delivered for those outside of the Cheshire and GM area, with comparable effectiveness.

    • Dr Shyra Raj's RTT® sessions: Wed–Fri, 10:00–15:00 (~2 hours each).

  • Program duration is variable and typically ranges from 8 to 12 months, tapering frequency of therapy sessions as progress is made to extend the time in treatment.

  • Payment can be made via card, bank transfer and installment options (e.g., using Klarna, T&Cs apply).

You must not rely on information on Cheshire Sobriety Clinic's website as an alternative to medical advice from your doctor or other professional healthcare provider. If you have any specific questions about any medical matters or if you think you may be suffering from any medical condition, you should consult your GP or other qualified healthcare provider. You should never delay seeking medical advice, disregard medical advice or discontinue medical treatment because of information on this website. Results cannot be guaranteed, moreover, results from individual testimonials are for reference only and your own personal experience may differ to those shown on this site, as outcomes are influenced by many factors outside of Cheshire Sobriety Clinic's control. If you have a physical dependency on alcohol, it is medically important not to suddenly stop drinking as this can cause acute alcohol withdrawal, delirium tremens, seizure and death. This programme is designed for individuals who are psychologically stable and not currently experiencing physical dependence requiring medical detox. The service is not a substitute for medical treatment, and we recommend consulting a healthcare professional before beginning any new treatment approach. Through the process of kindling, multiple detox's from alcohol and benzodiazepines can become significantly more difficult and dangerous. Medical attention should be sought at the earliest opportunity and you should attend Accident & Emergency following a medical event. RTT® is not a regulated medical procedure in the UK. We do not provide crisis care or medically managed or monitored detox. If you are in immediate risk or in crisis, please attend A&E, contact your GP or NHS 111.
