Private outpatient treatment for alcohol and drug use

Cheshire Sobriety Clinic offers private, outpatient treatment programmes for problematic alcohol and drug use, including binge drinking, combining talking therapy with RTT® hypnotherapy. Our consulting rooms on Altrincham High Street are convenient for Hale, Bowdon, Sale, Timperley, Lymm and South Manchester, and we also see clients in Alderley Edge and online.

Sessions are led by John Wilkinson, who has 27 years’ experience in drug, alcohol and mental health services, and Dr Shyra Raj, a medical doctor and certified RTT® practitioner. We offer four levels of treatment, so you can choose the support that fits where you are.

WHAT TO EXPECT

How treatment works

  • A complimentary, no-pressure 30-minute consultation with John Wilkinson, to talk through your situation and the options that may suit you.

  • Four levels of treatment. Programmes 2, 3 and 4 combine individual therapy sessions with John and two 2-hour Rapid Transformational Therapy® (RTT®) sessions with Dr Shyra Raj, which aim to address subconscious emotional triggers and include two personalised hypnosis recordings to listen to each day for 21 days. Programme 1 includes one hypnosis recording.

  • A holistic, biopsychosocial approach that considers the whole person, including mind, body, emotions and lifestyle, and aims to address underlying causes rather than only the behaviour.

  • Aftercare is included in the Full Treatment Programme and the Private Client Programme, and ad hoc sessions can be booked if you would like further support after your programme ends.

OUR APPROACH

How we work

We are a small team who aim to offer a compassionate, professional and confidential service, tailored to you.

  • We aim to be clear about costs, what each programme involves and what you can expect.

  • We support you to make changes at your own pace, with the tools, insight and support you need.

  • Your care comes first, ahead of profit.

Because treatment is outpatient, you can carry on with work and family life and put what you learn into practice straight away.

If you need a medically supervised detox, we will advise you on suitable external services rather than proceed unsafely.

You must not rely on information on Cheshire Sobriety Clinic's website as an alternative to medical advice from your doctor or other professional healthcare provider. If you have any specific questions about any medical matters or if you think you may be suffering from any medical condition, you should consult your GP or other qualified healthcare provider. You should never delay seeking medical advice, disregard medical advice or discontinue medical treatment because of information on this website. Results cannot be guaranteed, moreover, results from individual testimonials are for reference only and your own personal experience may differ to those shown on this site, as outcomes are influenced by many factors outside of Cheshire Sobriety Clinic's control. If you have a physical dependency on alcohol, it is medically important not to suddenly stop drinking as this can cause acute alcohol withdrawal, delirium tremens, seizure and death. The service is not a substitute for medical treatment, and we recommend consulting with your GP before beginning any new treatment approach. Through the process of kindling, multiple detox's from alcohol and benzodiazepines can become significantly more difficult and dangerous. Medical attention should be sought at the earliest opportunity and you should attend Accident & Emergency following a medical event. RTT® is not a regulated medical procedure in the UK. We do not provide crisis care or medically managed or monitored detox. If you are in immediate risk or in crisis, please attend A&E, contact your GP or NHS 111.
